·     Further your teaching and facilitation skills to equip you for your own postnatal yoga classes

·     Learn more about the benefits of postnatal yoga – a gentle progression from simple regenerative work and deep relaxation, to rebuilding strength via more flowing sequences

·     Explore the qualities we need to develop ourselves as teachers in this context

·     Not losing the thread - how to teach yoga in a sometimes chaotic and noisy environment

·     Look at the practicalities of running postnatal classes

·     Creating a nurturing environment for women and their babies

·     Gain confidence in supporting and affirming the mother and baby relationship and help new mothers develop sensitivity and compassion for their baby

·     Teaching more than yoga

Appropriately practised, yoga is unsurpassed for easing aches and pains, developing strength and flexibility, improving posture and restoring flagging energy – all particularly beneficial to women who are adapting to the demands of new motherhood.   This three-day intensive course will prepare you for working safely with women through yoga, in classes to which they can bring their babies. We will examine the emotional challenges and changes women are going through at this time, their physical difficulties and common ailments in the first few months after birth, as well as a variety of ways of releasing the physical and emotional tension and tiredness they are often struggling with.  We will practice how to adapt postures and design classes that will include women of differing abilities, and make everyone comfortable in the class.  This module includes observation of an actual class, and some students may wish to take the opportunity to do further class observation and teaching practice once this course has been successfully completed
