Massage for Pregnancy and Labour
with Sarah Nesling

Touch is an essential part of loving communication and is as important in pregnancy as a nutritious diet. By learning some simple, basic massage techniques we can develop the ability to comfort, ease tension and relieve pain for our loved ones. This can begin in pregnancy and later help you to feel confident to massage your baby. In traditional societies all over the world massage is used to make pregnancy more comfortable, to provide pain relief in labour and to aid recovery after childbirth.

You too can benefit enormously from regular massage, especially in the weeks approaching your birth when your body may be feeling heavy, achy and uncomfortable. Massage is an effective way to ease the pain of contractions and for some women it is an essential comfort aid in labour. This workshop is designed to teach partners to massage skillfully and effectively. While easy to do, it is important to know how to massage, what to concentrate on and what to avoid. Sarah will also introduce you to aromatherapy and offer guidance about using essential oils safely in pregnancy, during labour and after the birth. Please wear loose trousers and a t-shirt, and bring two large towels.

Sarah Nesling is a masseur and aromatherapist with over 20 years of experience who specialises in working with women and children. She also runs professional trainings in massage and aromatherapy and trains other therapists in the art of pregnancy massage
