Sophia is an experienced and qualified reflexologist. Her ethos is attuned to meet the whole person, while encompassing an awareness of the Incoming Soul (the baby or babies). Sophia recognized the synchronicity and decided to work at the Active Birth Centre Therapy Clinic, to bring her knowledge and understanding of the natural birthing process to as many women as possible. Maternity reflexology is a wonderful complement to the Active Birth Centre classes and workshops, and is compatible with all other therapies. It is also of universal benefit, whether for chronic conditions or stress management, "finding one's feet" or recovering from traumatic times.
SOPHIA SMITH BSc MAR NFSH (student) has been practising reflexology for over 20 years, and combines the powerful pioneering methods of midwife and reflex zone therapist Susanne Enzer with colour therapy via the feet, plus Swiss mineral supplementation as required, and a good dose of feminine insight and common sense. French and Polish by birth, she grew up in Brazil and originally trained in geology. Her own pregnancy in 1990 was excellent, supported by Ayurvedic medecine and Janet Balaskas' Yoga; however, a caesarean section was required due to breech presentation. Hence Sophia has an understanding of "last minute change of scenario" shock, and the deep healing benefits of breastfeeding. Sophia works from her home clinic "Eaux Vives" and every Friday at the ABC Clinic, for the past 3 years. She is a member of APPPAH (Association for Prenatal and Perinatal Psychology and Health).
