Massage Therapist and Birth Doula Sue Boughton

Pregnancy and Postnatal Massage at the Active Birth Centre is offered by masseur and birth doula, Sue Boughton. You may choose massage to address a particular issue, or simply for relaxation. Having regular massage treatments can ease minor aches and pains and can help to prevent many common ailments such as repetitive strain injury, back ache and symptoms of stress such as headaches, insomnia, anxiety and general fatigue.

Pregnancy Massage
Blending Shiatsu techniques with Swedish massage, this treatment is designed to support you through the physical and emotional demands of pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period. Relaxing and restorative, it is also an excellent treatment for encouraging labour to start and for post-natal recovery. Meridians and shiatsu points are gently worked with thumbs or palms to relax and rebalance mind and body and to help alleviate specific pregnancy related symptoms.

Indian Champissage – Indian head massage

This treatment is given while you are seated, over your clothes. It is  a relaxing, soothing therapy based on the ancient Ayurvedic system of health and wellbeing. It aims to stimulate circulation, disperse toxins, improve joint mobility and reduce stress and tension. Combining holistic massage, acupressure and Ayurvedic techniques, it’s much more than a head massage as your neck, shoulders, upper back and arms are all treated and your whole body will benefit!
